The Plan

We have an exciting update!

We have moved into our Phoenix location! If you haven’t joined us for an event in the space yet, make sure to come down soon! We’re still navigating the start-up costs, and have a few more financial hurdles to get through before we reach smoother sailing.

The Architect

Upon move-in, the city of Phoenix informed us that we had to work with an architect to get things into compliance for them. Our architect has been fantastic, but this was a cost we definitely did not anticipate when starting our fundraising.

Cost: Approximately $6000

Construction

We began with an empty room, and now there’s a theatre space! This has involved purchasing and installing light bars and lights, speakers, curtain rigging and curtains, and more. We have more projects on our to-do list, but this cost just includes that which has already being completed and needs to be paid back.

Cost: Approximately $600

Initial Rent

Once we are up and running with shows, ticket sales will cover our rent and expenses. Before the doors open and tickets are sold, we need to make sure we can cover what the landlords require. That’s first, last and at least one month of buffer.

Cost: $4500

The Odds and Ends

There are all kinds of odds and ends that come with opening a business. Everything from insurance to paper towels to getting internet installed. We want to make sure we get started on the right foot, and your contribution will help us do that!

Cost: $500

What are we going to do with the space?

We should have no dark nights in 2024. Whether it’s a rehearsal, a class, or a performance, every day should have something!

Full productions

We have 6 full productions planned for 2024, including Bly Manor, Dreaming of Midsummer, Be More Chill, and the world premiere of Hunger in the fall. Along with that we have several more productions that we have yet to announce (look out for that to happen as soon as the space is secured!). That’s a full season of high-quality theatre!

Limited Time Events

If you’ve seen one of our cabaret shows like I Hate Love Songs, It’s Good to Be Bad, or Home is Where the Hurt Is, you know how much fun these limited-time events can be. Not only are these fantastic events to watch, but they are wonderful opportunities for our community of performers. We are able to get in professional performers who don’t have time to join us for full productions, folks who are just starting out in their careers, and everyone in between. Look out for even more of these in 2024!

Classes

In 2023 we hosted two week-long camps and several classes for teens and adults. We will be offering even more educational opportunities for performers of all ages in 2024. And, like always, we will strive to make them affordable and accessible to as many as possible. As a non profit theatre, we feel it is important that we are a community resource. And having a space where people can learn and build their skills is one of the best ways we can do that.

Outside Shows

We know as well as anyone how valuable an open door can be to a company that doesn’t have a space of its own. Creating opportunities for outside groups to get a space they can afford is how we build up new voices and create a stronger theatre community. Our pricing structure for outside groups will allow new voices to get a shot at reaching an audience without worrying about bleeding themselves dry to do it.
